Personal Statement:
Dr. Glenn Cahn graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego with his PhD in 1980. He then practiced in Boston for twenty-three years, and moved to North Carolina in 2003 for a change of climate and lifestyle.
Throughout his years of practice he has worked exclusively in the field of psychological and neuropsychological assessment, with a wide variety of age groups, from children as young as six, to geriatrics over the age of one hundred.
Across this diverse age group he has assessed an equally wide range of problems, diagnosing among other issues: Asperger’s, autism, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities; brain injuries such as from car and industrial accidents; dementia from Alzheimer’s and strokes; depression and suicide; alcohol and drug abuse; panic attacks, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Two elements of his assessment philosophy are that (i) proper treatment of issues starts with the right diagnosis, and (ii) a corollary is ‘turning over a lot of stones ‘ is necessary to ensure that issues frequently overlooked are discovered. Stated differently, Dr. Cahn believes an undiagnosed problem is an untreated one, which can only result in problems continuing for individuals who are unaware of what may be causing them to have difficulty with their lives.
Appointments are generally available within a short period of time. Turn around time for a completed report to be mailed to the individual is typically a few days.
